Indomethacin caused an approximately 3-fold rise in gut permeability during control treatment, while no significant increase occurred with 75 mg/day zinc carnosine. This was an NSAID-challenge study in healthy volunteers and used a higher dose than Keeper's 10 mg.

After 14 days, 75 mg/day zinc carnosine reduced the exercise-induced rise in gut permeability by 70% compared with placebo. The study dose was substantially higher than Keeper's 10 mg.
